Who We Are

FuguHaus is a small, source-direct brand built around one garment — the handwoven Ghanaian smock, locally known as Fugu. We work with master weavers in Northern Ghana, ship their cloth from the loom to buyers worldwide, and pass the value back to the workshops where the cloth was made. Nothing sits in our warehouse between the loom and your door.

We started FuguHaus because the smock remained largely invisible to buyers outside West Africa, even as its visual culture had become impossible to miss. The goal is straightforward: make authentic, hand-finished Fugu accessible to anyone who has worn one, photographed one, or wondered where one came from — without the dilution, the markup, or the lost provenance that the trade has historically carried with it.

Our Weavers

We partner with weaving families in Tamale, Daboya, and Bolgatanga — three towns whose narrow-strip loom traditions have defined the Ghanaian smock for generations. Each region shapes the cloth differently: Dagomba weavers in Tamale favor deeply saturated indigo and embroidered chest panels, Daboya's riverside looms favor tight, even striping and cooler river-dyed blues, and the Builsa weavers around Bolgatanga are known for exceptionally fine, geometric patterns.
